The Bums Fall to the Aggies
Published: Sunday, November 1st, 2009
The Aggies and Alum Bums were blessed with another year of good weather so the Alum Bum game could take place. On Halloween Eve, the Bums showed up to Ted Leonard Field with a younger Alumni squad that was ready to compete. The Aggies played well and took a 5-2 lead into the top of the sixth inning, when former Aggie, now Alum Bum, and St Louis Cardinal minor leaguer, C.J. Beatty, hit a grand slam to give the Bums a one run lead. The Bums held the 6-5 lead until the bottom of the ninth inning when the Bums pitching staff ran out of arms. The Aggies scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to finish the Bums off 7-6. “There was a nice little crowd, the game was fun, and as more young Aggies transition to the Alum Bums, the game will continue to be this competitive”, stated ABAA President, Crawford Moser.
