Former Aggie and Baltimore Elite Giant, Bert Simmons, Drafted in 2008 "MLB Negro League Honors Draft"
Bert Simmons, a World War II veteran played college baseball at North Carolina A&T State University and was one of 30 former negro league baseball players drafted in the 2008 Amateur baseball draft. Simmons was honorably drafted by the Baltimore Orioles.

ABAA Celebrates The 1st Annual Groomes Spring Classic Weekend
ABAA members and guests weathered a brutal early April cold front to come out for the annual Fundraising Golf Tournament honoring the great Mel “Big Ten” Groomes. Temperatures were in the 30’s at tee time at Bryan Park Golf Club, but that didn’t stop former Aggie Baseball Head Coaches, Richard Watkins and Keith Henry from bringing home the first place trophy in the tournament.

The Aggie Baseball Alumni Association (ABAA) will host the 1st Annual Groomes Spring Classic Weekend, April 3-8, 2007 in Greensboro, N.C. The weekend celebrates the history and tradition of the Aggie Baseball Program by honoring the great Mel “Big Ten” Groomes who coached the Aggie Baseball team from the early 1960’s to the late 1980’s.
